Back to the Raid
I’ve purposely kept myself out of the normal raiding activities of the guild for a couple of months now. The state of Restoration Druids in my opinion has just become worse and worse with each successive patch which made me loose a lot of interest. I can’t deny however that I’ve missed it to some degree and thus I’ve slowly started to make my way back into it.
The difference this time is that I am primarily specced as Moonkin. I do still have a Resto spec set up as my secondary, but unless major changes are made to bring back the ability of Druids to roll Lifebloom stacks I just can’t see myself embracing Restoration as a main spec.
My first run back into raiding and the guild puts me up against Thorim, a boss that had not yet been killed by Foederati. I managed to squeak out just over 1500 DPS which isn’t overly exciting compared to the more than 3700 the other raiding moonkin in the raid did but I was happy with the initial outcome. My gear is still primarily set up for being a raiding Resto, so that does hamper my DPS some, and the fact that I have virtually no experience raiding or even instancing as a moonkin, emphasizes that I have a lot to learn to get up to that 3700 mark.
I did some tweaks after that run and I’m looking forward to giving it another go. I dropped some Resto talents that didn’t really add anything to my DPS and picked up Furor, Natural Shapeshifter and the Master Shapeshifter talents. I also trimmed some talents in balance to streamline things a bit, dropping Owlkin Frenzy and Typhoon. So basically right now I need to working on setting up a good base spell rotation and work on improving my gear.
Oh, and we killed Thorim for the first time that night, which reminds me I need to get the Screenshots caught up on the Guild Home Page.
Old Naxx and AQ40
In the last few weeks Foederati has taken up the challenge of tackling some old content that we missed when The Burning Crusade went live in January of 2007. Before the Echoes of Doom patch we were able to hit up the old version of Naxx and made it all the through the Four Horsemen and attempted several pulls at Sapphiron.
Click here for more pictures from Naxx.
Once patch 3.0.2 hit, we spent some time in the Sunwell, and then took a 1 night detour into AQ40. Back in the day, The Twin Emps gave us a terrible time, to the point that it made us turn our attention to Naxx, which netted us several kills in the floating necropolis prior to TBC.
Monday night, we went back with a vengance and and took revenge on those big red baddies as well as getting familier with Ouro, Viscidus, and C’Thun.
Here are some pictures from our trashing of AQ40.
We had a great time, and even took a few moments to kill Onxiya before calling it a night.
Echoes of Doom
Echoes of Doom seems to be a fairly appropriate name for patch 3.0.2, not because of the impending release of Wrath of the Lich King, or because of the massive changes to game play, but more due to the massive cries of “foul” from the player base that I saw in General chat as I logged on for the first time after the servers came up.
Field Report – Wailing Caverns
Bariak opened his ammo pouch and inspected its contents, making sure that it was full. Running out of ammo was always his greatest fear, and something he had done on a few occasions, which had garnered him a rather unflattering reputation with other hunters, and which may have actually lead to his current assignment.
Frindyn was a young Tauren hunter, just barely 20 seasons old. He looked nervous, and had a habit quickly looking around him, constantly, to the point that Bariak was worried that the young bull would be suffering from neck problems before he was 30.
AUGUST!!!
I’ve been kind of out of the game this week as work has me working extra hours before I go on vacation next week (go figure). I’m not really going anywhere but the 13th is my birthday and I have for the last decade always taken that week off to enjoy some down time.
This means that I’ll be spending a lot of time in game between the 11th and the 15th as well as here on the blog and probably doing some site maintenance to Foederati.
Powerleveling Enchanting and diving into Herbalism
Powerleveling enchanting was painfully expensive, mainly because after DE’ing cheap greens from the AH to get to about 50, I started just buying the mats from the AH to cast enchants on some spare high level greens that I picked up somewhere.
Sticking mainly to enchantments that were orange, and thus the guaranteed skill up, I quickly made my way up the ladder. By the time I got into the early 200′s I had only spent about 200 gold or so, but as I went higher that quickly changed. Higher level mats are of course higher in price and unfortunately for my bank balance I kept doing it the hard way. At around 280 I had spent over 1000 gold. The last 20 points to 300 really hit the pocket book hard. I did try to pick up some level 50 to 60 greens to DE but I found that most of those would just turn into Arcane Dust, which I wasn’t able to use until I got to 300.
It took me 2 days (about 4 actual in game hours) to get to 300, and about an hour after that I was in Outland and at 332. I’ve all ready gone around and picked up all of the Outland reputation enchants that I can get a hold of; here is a list of what I can do for any Hordies on Aggy looking for a fix. Guess I now need to work on grinding those reps past revered. I sooo hate grinding rep.
As a side note…
I have also picked up Herbalism on a temporary basis. I’m not going to kill myself leveling it like I did enchanting as I plan to drop it for inscription once Wrath of the Lich King goes live. I’m mainly doing it to farm up herbs to store for inks, and once I get out to Outland with that profession I will of course use it to stock up on potion mats for the rest of the Burning Crusade season. I am actually really looking forward to Wrath and if I happen to get a beta key (please give me a beta key Blizzard, you will definitely see some beta posts here.
In the mean time, Foederati does have a guild member in beta, since he went to Blizcon in ’07. Check out his blog at Pwnshop.
Gorefiend and the Ghost Dilemma
Terron Gorefiend has held a sour place in my soul ever since my first encounter with him in Black Temple. The main part of the fight isn’t really all that difficult, however every so often he turns a raid member into a ghost and as the ghost spawns so do four shadowy constructs. The constructs are basically paper elephants for those that can handle them. The hit really hard, have a strong tendency to target healers and casters, and can only be killed by the ghosts. The players controlling the ghosts can generally kill them fairly quickly.
World of Warcraft Adventures
Ok… so here is yet another blog among the hundreds or even thousands that are out there talking about World of Warcraft. I don’t have a real goal or anything majorly planed for this blog other than to use it basically as a journal to record my expereinces and adventures in WoW and beyond.
My name is Amradorn, well not my real name, but the name of my main character. I’m a druid living on the US server of Aggramar. I’m also the guild leader of Horde guild Foederati. We are a casual raiding guild, our schedule is roughly 6 to 9 hours of raid time a week. We have cleared All of the Burning Crusade content up through and including the Black Temple. We have made a couple of forays into the Sunwell mainly to learn trash.
I’m not going to go into a lot of details right now. You’ll learn more about me, Foederati, and our expolits in WoW in future posts. Until next time thanks for reading.
